The primary focus of the Graveyard Fields project will be to refurbish its badly eroded trail system, but that’s only the beginning.  We also plan to conduct river restoration projects on the Yellowstone Prong, re-introduce red spruce to selected areas in the vicinity of Graveyard Fields, improve signage in the area, restore and build new bridging, and attack non-native invasive species in Graveyard Fields and beyond.  We have begun a public outreach program partly funded by this initiative to help protect Pisgah’s waterways that we refer to as the “River Rangers.”  We will also establish a trail maintenance fund that will support Graveyard Fields, and, to the extent funds allow, other areas in Pisgah.
